Master Sergeant James, "Jim" E. Strezoff, U.S. Air Force (Ret.), 78, of Brunswick, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025 after a long, brave battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a decorated serviceman who dedicated 26 years to the nation. After retiring from the Air Force, Jim spent another 17 years at the National Security Agency.
Jim was born on August 30, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1964. He served in Vietnam and was the recipient of the following: Meritorious Service Medal w/20lc, Air Force Commendation Medal w/30lc, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Good Conduct Medal w/1solc and 2olc, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Tour Ribbon-short w/1olc, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon w/1olc, NCO Professional Military Education Graduate Ribbon, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, and Air Force Training Ribbon. During his time with the National Security Agency, he built a reputation of integrity and hard work.
Jim touched many lives with his kindness and generosity. He never hesitated to help out his family, friends and community. He loved swimming, last-minute adventures, posing for goofy photos, and going on road trips with his family. He had a passion for genealogy and spent hours researching and building family narratives for many people over the years.
Jim was a devoted brother to Theodore Strezoff, and beloved Uncle Jimmy to Deanne (Mark) Kiplinger, Dana Kwiatkowski, Kelly (Shawn) Cheshier, Matthew Yarris, Nicole Lawrence, Alec Kiplinger, and Collin Cheshier. He was preceded in death by his parents Theodore and Josephine (Enoff) Strezoff, and sisters Joanne (Strezoff) Nugent and Josephine (Strezoff) Hennings.
A private memorial service with full military honors will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
