Swiger
March 27, 1952 – October 6, 2024
Jane Ann Swiger, age 72, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2024, in Strongsville, Ohio. Jane was born on March 27, 1952, in Berea, Ohio to the late Louis J. and Jane (Graham) Yanacsek. She obtained her bachelor's degree from Southeast Missouri State University in 1974 and enjoyed a 35-year career teaching Health & Physical Education at Center Middle School in Strongsville, Ohio. In 2019 she was honored as a Strongsville High School Distinguished Alumni. Jane enjoyed being an active member of United Church of Christ, Congregational, of Medina. She loved to travel, especially her annual family trips to Oak Island, North Carolina with hopes of watching the Sea Turtles hatch under the moonlit sky. But most of all she loved spending time with her beloved family. She adored her granddaughter and treasured every minute she had with her. A wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend, she will be missed by all who knew her.
Jane is survived by her loving daughter, Rebecca (Evan) Knapp; her precious granddaughter, Emery Jane Knapp; her brothers, James Yanacsek and William Yanacsek; along with a lifetime of friends and extended family.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 35 years, John B. Swiger; her parents; and brothers, Richard and Robert Yanacsek.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Waite Funeral Home, 765 N Court Street, Medina, Ohio 44256.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at United Church of Christ, 217 E Liberty St # B, Medina, OH 44256 on Medina Square, followed by interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery where Jane will be laid to rest with her beloved John Swiger.
