J anet Dzambik, 90, of Lorain, OH, died peacefully Friday, Sept. 12, 2025, with family at her bedside. She was born March 24, 1935, in Charlotte (MI) and grew up on the family farm in the small town of Potterville (MI). She graduated Valedictorian from Potterville High School in 1953 and held the position of class vice president. Janet was accepted into the Edward W. Sparrow Hospital School of Nursing in Lansing (MI) and graduated in 1956. She worked bedside nursing, including a TB ward, in hospitals located in Lansing (MI), Traverse City (MI), and Elyria (OH). She quit her nursing career and settled in Lorain (OH) to raise her 3 children with Richard Dzambik, married 57 years, before his passing in 2019. Caring, humble, moral, dedicated, honest, hardworking, empathetic, intelligent, athletic, and funny only began to describe her character as she unfailingly took care of family, friends, and neighbors in need. She enjoyed working with youth and later in life became a driving instructor. She was an avid vegetable and flower gardener and won Lorain City's Home Beautification Award. Reading was her passion, and she always wanted to become a writer. Beating out hundreds of contestants, she won The Lorain Journal's "What America means to me" essay contest in 1976. Her most read book was the well-worn Bible that sat on the table next to her reclining chair in the living room. She loved playing sports and was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Cavs, Indians, and Browns either listening on the radio, watching TV, or both at the same time. Other hobbies included snow skiing, hiking, and any outdoor adventure.

She is survived by her son, David (Carol) Dzambik; daughters Deana (Keith) Haydu and Dory (Philip) Zemanek; grandchildren Andrew Dzambik, Twins Ian and Evelyn Haydu, Alyson Haydu, Rebecca Zemanek, Mallory (Brad) Pollard, and Zachary Zemanek; 5 great-grandchildren; sister Mary Ann Ball; brothers William and Robert Hartel; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Dzamik; and parents Harvey and Bernice Hartel (nee Pinch).

Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m., Saturday, September 20, 2025, at St. Ambrose Catholic Parish, 929 Pearl Rd., Brunswick, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m.
