Janice Codney, age 78, passed away on August 30th, 2024, in Medina, Ohio surrounded by her loving family. Janice was born on June 20, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Joseph Phillip and Helen Marie (Mateyka) Novotony.

Janice worked as a welder at Swagelok and retired there after 21 years. She went on to raise her family and also worked as a substitute lunch lady at Maple Heights City Schools. She also spent time working at Allen Graphics as a printer. Janice often referred to herself as a lady of "Many Hats" and "Many Trades".  She volunteered over the years and taught classes at Little Red Quilt House in Medina. Janice was a generous person, who was always the first to help others. Her happy, cheerful and sunny disposition made her a joy to be around. But as much as she was always helping others, everyone knew her beloved family always came first. She made sure that they always knew it. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, instructor, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her and her example will live on through her family.

Janice is survived by her children, Joan Doughtry (Timothy), Joseph R. Codney, Jr. (Kim), Jerry D. Willoughby, Jr., Shelley Codney, Mickey Archacki (Danielle), Christine Bilczo, and Rita Holliday (Paul); 10 grandchildren, Joshua, Mary, James, Steven, KelliJo, Daniel, Sebestian, Christopher, Atticus; and great-granddaughter, Kayleigh; her two sisters, Carol Koval and Marilyn Spena; and a lifetime of collected friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of 48 years, Joseph Raymond Codney, Sr. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N Court Street, Medina, OH 44256 followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m.
