Janice R. Smolka, 74, of Hinckley, passed away December 24, 2025.

She was born in Cleveland on April 9, 1951 to Alfred and Helen (Hrach) Sroubek.

Janice is survived by her sons, Jared (fiancé Jessica Fishel-deceased) and Jonathan Smolka; and grandchildren, Marshal, Julia, and Jeremiah.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 40 years, James; and a brother, John Sroubek.

Janice was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Hinckley, where she organized their crafts and plant sales and Spaghetti Dinner. She was a member of the Hinckley Arts and Crafts Club and was the treasurer of the Rabbit Club at the Cuyahoga Co. Fair. Janice retired from
K-Mart as a night manager.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. – 12 noon, Monday, January 5, 2026, at Waite Funeral Home, 3300 Center Rd., Brunswick, where funeral services will take place at 12 noon. Interment will take place at Hope Memorial Gardens, Hinckley.
