Janice M.
Zittle
April 23, 1943 – August 30, 2020
Janice May Hackman Zittle met Jesus Christ at Bath Manor on August 30, 2020. She was born on April 23, 1943 in Barberton to the late Ralph and Helen (Dierdorff) Hackman. Jan retired from Pitney Bowes Equipment serving as a dispatch operator.
Jan enjoyed traveling, watching sports (especially) the Indians and Ohio State, reading, cross-word puzzles, and cooking desserts. Vacations were planned every year until her health declined. Some of her favorite trips were to Sanibel Island, Florida, Acadia National Park in Maine, and Amish country. She was a faithful member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church serving and assisting in many ministries including Women's Bible Study, Discipleship Team, adult fellowship, food donation for the Operation Homes ministry, preparation of Advent and Lenten meals, and the Prayer Chain-advising members to pray through the email connection with specific requests. She was faithful in sending get well and birthday cards to her Prince of Peace family.
Jan was married on April 10, 1971 to Leonard Zittle and enjoyed 49 years as a faithful and beloved wife. She is also survived by her son, Eric Zittle, of Minneapolis, Minnesota; brothers Terry (Deb) Hackman of Green, Ohio, and Fred Hackman of Farmington, Missouri; sister Mary Ellen Hackman of Akron, Ohio; and her brother-in-law Bruce (Edna) Zittle. She will miss her nieces, nephews, and family at social gatherings and birthday parties. Jan was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Connie Hackman Queer.
The Zittle family would like to thank the doctors, duty nurses, aides on the 400 hall, therapy department and administration at Bath Manor Care Center for their love, patient care, and friendship. Thanks to Absolute Hospice Care for treatment in Jan's final journey to Heaven.
The family will receive friends from 12-2:00 pm, Friday, September 4, 2020 at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina 44256. Please practice all Covid safety guidelines. A private family memorial service will be celebrated by Pastor Daniel Haberkost from Prince of Peace and Jan will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in her memory sent to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 3555 Medina Rd., Medina, OH 44256.
