Obituary

Jeffrey W Post age 76 of San Antonio, Texas passed away on October 14, 2019. He was the son of the late Jack and Jean Post and was raised in Medina, Ohio. His interests while in school included his paper routes, scouts, model railroading, woodworking and playing the drums. Jeffrey was a graduate of Medina High School.

Jeff attended The Ohio State University where he met his wife, Becky. He graduated with a welding engineering degree (which at the time was one of only two universities in the world that offered this major). He accomplished his 'dream' by making the cut as a freshman to join the drum line of the OSU Marching Band, fondly referred to as TBDBITL (the Best Damn Band in the Land).

He began his career with Chicago Bridge and Iron working in the field on construction sites. He and his wife were transferred to Genoa, Italy for 7 months while working on containment vessels for oil tankers. Upon their return to the states, they lived in Memphis, TN.

In 1970, Jeff returned to Medina to join his father at Standard Welding and Steel Products. Inc. He was proud of his work in fabricating the ornamental steel arches which today still welcome the public at the entrances of our uptown Medina Town Square. Another achievement was the unique arched steel bridge over a pond that currently is installed on the North Course at Westfield CC. He also followed his father as a volunteer fire fighter and constructed a wheeled cart that is being used to roll and store a large fire hose.

Six years later, Jeff was recruited to head up a welding department in Louisiana for the construction of offshore drilling rigs. He then relocated to Houston, TX and started his own consulting firm. He would write, review codes, do on site inspections, supervise site work, and was an expert witness all over the world. He learned the technique of heat/flame straightening of steel where he could make a steel beam move back into alignment with a torch. His logo for his firm was; "Have Torch – will Travel".

Jeff was an active volunteer in the churches he attended, serving as a project manager for expansion to working in the food pantries.

The brilliance of this witty dry-humored man's life changed when he suffered a massive brain bleed 22 years ago. We all suffered the loss of his knowledge and wisdom. A few years later, he and his wife moved to San Antonio, Texas to be closer to family.

Jeff is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Becky; son, Andy (Julie) Post; grandsons, Tyler and Ryan Post; sister, Jan (Tad) Coleman; nephew, Christopher (Margo) Coleman; niece, Kellie (Crell) Johns; nephew, Jack (Leslie) Coleman; and 5 great niece's and 1 great nephew.

A celebration of Jeff's life was held in San Antonio, TX on Saturday, October 19, 2019.

As Jeff would say…  O- H-
