Jim L. King, 80, of Brunswick, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on June 8, 2026. Born on January 13, 1946, in Mayfield, Kentucky, Jimmy was the son of John B. and Odessa King.
He is survived by Wanda (Edward) Strainer, Anthony (Lisa) Strainer, Katie (Mike) Hrusch and Kiley; along with many cousins in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Michigan. He also leaves behind his lifelong friend of more than 70 years, Warren (Marge) Raese.
Jimmy moved from Cleveland to Brunswick in elementary school and graduated from Brunswick High School in 1965. In high school, Jimmy was first trumpet in the Brunswick concert and marching bands. Jimmy enjoyed a lengthy career in computer management and retired from Alltel. He loved cars, especially the four Corvettes he owned. After retirement, he attended multiple car shows weekly in the summertime. Jimmy was a devoted member of Brunswick United Methodist Church.
In July 2022, Jimmy underwent triple bypass surgery, and was in declining health for several years.
The family will welcome guests from 1:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Waite Funeral Home, 3300 Center Rd, Brunswick, Ohio. A service will take place at the funeral home at 12:00pm on Monday, June 15, 2026. Jimmy will be laid to rest at Hope Memorial Gardens in Hinckley, Ohio.
