John "Jack"
George Mccandlish
July 11, 1952 – October 23, 2024
John "Jack" McCandlish, Sr, 72, passed away suddenly on October 23, 2024.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 11, 1952, Jack married his high school sweetheart, Connie, in 1973. They made their home in Maple Heights, and there, raised two children, John and Sandy. Jack was employed by Arcelor Mittal Steel before retiring in 2015 with over 40 years of service. He worked hard at the mill every day and believed strongly in the rights of the worker.
Throughout his life, Jack enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends, as well as partaking in raucous weekends at the "Jamboree in the Hills". A true Clevelander at heart, his passions included following the Browns, Cavs, and Indians. Putting both of his children through college at The Ohio State University added the Buckeyes to the top of his list.
Retirement did not slow Jack down. He spent his days going on long walks through Metro Parks with friends or his grand-pups, Sasha and Gouda, doting on his granddaughters Cameryn and Kylie, and cheering for the girls in softball, swimming, gymnastics, bowling, musicals, and concerts. Jack's enjoyment of the History Channel manifested itself into real life as he experienced trips to far-flung destinations throughout Alaska, Hawaii, Europe, and the Caribbean.
Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Angelina (née Biasi) McCandlish, and his siblings, Joe, Pat "Fats", Vickie, and Charlie. Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Constance; his son, John; his daughter, Sandy (Dan) Gale; his granddaughters, Cameryn and Kylie; his sisters, Patsy and Gloria (Ron); and countless nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Jack lived life unapologetically; he loved unconditionally.
The family will host a Celebration of Life from 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at Allardale Park, 141 Remsen Rd, Medina, OH, 44256. To honor Jack's memory, please dress in your favorite team's Game Day attire.
