John Scott Grimm

John Scott Grimm, 85, of Medina, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026.

Born on September 22, 1940, in Lodi, Ohio, John was the son of the late Don and Treva (Switzer) Grimm. He graduated from Lodi High School in 1958, and attended Tri State College in Angola, Indiana. Following in the Grimm family tradition, John established his own trucking company, John S. Grimm, Inc., in Medina, Ohio, in 1966. He will be remembered for his dedication to family, business, his employees and friends.

In August 1962, he married Barbara McVicker, who survives him. In addition to his wife, John is survived by his four children, Noel Grimm, Colin Grimm, Catherine (Eric) Meyer and Ellen (Dean) Effinger, and his five grandchildren, Will, Virginia and Hilary Meyer, and John “Jack” and Chloe Grimm.

John was known for his lifelong love and involvement in sports. Playing basketball and baseball in high school, coaching in Medina’s youth baseball program, and attending numerous sporting events, including the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, and Formula 1 in Spa, Belgium. He enjoyed extensive traveling with his wife throughout the United States and Canada in his RV, visiting many national parks and Civil War battlefields.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026, at Waite Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, OH 44256. A private family service will be held later.
