John Walter Harsch, age 63, passed away Monday, August 6, 2012 in Cleveland. John was born May 6, 1949 in Aurora, CO to the late James and Laverne (Beard) Harsch. He retired in 2001 from United States Postal Service, where he was a clerk for 16 years. Prior to working for the Postal Service John was a nuclear welder at the Perry Nuclear Power Plant and the Norfolk Shipyards, working on nuclear submarines. John was a religious man, he loved to hold Bible studies and write gospel music. He was a talented woodworker, loved his 4 huskies and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan. John served his country as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam era.

He was the beloved husband of Laura Kaye (Guthrie) to whom he was married 15 years; loving father of Christopher (Sandra) Harsch, Tim (April) Harsch, Albert Lowe, Joshua Harsch, and Rachel (Bernard) Reyes; dear grandfather of CJ, Emma, Alexa, Adara, Camille, and Orion; devoted brother of Tom (Randie Lyn) Harsch, Mike Harsch, Bill (Cindy) Harsch, Jim Harsch, David (Diane) Harsch, Carol (Joe) Lopez, Becky (John) Schnitzler and Nancy Harsch.

Services will be held Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 12:00 Noon at the Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. Rev. John Harkness will officiate. Burial with military honors will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH. Family will receive friends Monday from 5-8:00 at the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
