John Charles Schwenzer

John Charles “Jack” Schwenzer, age 79, passed away on May 12, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born on December 30, 1946, in Plainfield, New Jersey to the late Jacob and Ruth Esther (Krohne) Schwenzer.

John served his country in the US Army Reserves. He earned his MBA at St. John’s University in Staten Island and worked as an accountant at Schering Plough for 17 years. John and his wife Barbara went on to own five Oil Well franchises in the New Jersey area. After retiring, John and Barbara moved from New Jersey to Ohio, where they enjoyed spending time with their grandson and granddogs. John was a talented entrepreneur, golfer, “day trader,” cigar aficionado, and attended The Chapel Medina. His witty sense of humor, big heart, devotion, generosity, and unforgettable presence will remain treasured by all who knew him.

John is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Barbara (Heidemann), sons Garth William and Jarrett Richard, daughter-in-law Julie, and his cherished grandson John Tushar “Johnny.” Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son John Jacob in 1992 and his brother Richard “Skippy” Schwenzer.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026 at Waite Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, OH 44256. Family will receive guests at 10 am. The service begins at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John’s memory to the scholarship fund established at The Ohio University, in honor of John and Barbara's late son John.
