Joseph Norman Whinery

Joseph Norman Whinery, 93 years old, of Seville, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on October 12, 2026. He was born on January 1, 1933 in Winona, Ohio to the late Wallace and Virginia (Cooper) Whinery.

Joseph was a proud United States Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was a devoted member of Triangle Baptist Church in Chippewa Lake and Harrisville Masonic Lodge in Lodi. He dedicated 22 years of service to Elm Farm Dairy before retiring from Smucker’s after another 21 years. A hardworking and meticulous man, he took great pride in caring for his lawn and keeping his vehicles in immaculate condition. Above all, he treasured his family and especially loved the time he spent with his grandchildren, who brought him great joy throughout his life. He will be remembered for his dedication, attention to detail, and the love he shared with those closest to him.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Loretta June (Ramsey) Whinery; children Brenda and Paul Scheiman of Valley City, Ohio, Connie and Kevin Dickson of Frederick, Maryland, Jennifer and Wesley Barone of Trenton, Missouri and Jeffery Whinery of Barberton, Ohio; sister Edna (Whinery) Kindig of Lodi, Ohio and brother David (Ann) Whinery of Lodi, Ohio.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Wilmer Whinery and Wallace Whinery, Jr.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Waite Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, OH 44256. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Triangle Baptist Church, 7156 Hunter Drive, Chippewa Lake, Ohio.
