Joyce Marie
Saucier
January 9, 1939 – April 14, 2024
Joyce Saucier (nee Klinger) 85, passed away at Medina Hospital on April 14, 2024. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on January 9, 1939, to Theodore and Grace Klinger. Joyce was a John Adams HS graduate, earned her bachelor's degree in Home Economics at Bowling Green State University, married John E. Saucier (from Worcester, Mass) in Cleveland, Ohio, and settled in Medina to raise their four children. She served in children ministries as well as church secretary for several decades at Medina First Baptist Church.
Whether as a volunteer leader for the AWANA program at church since its inception in the 1970's, helping to host events at the church, as a part time or full-time secretary during the ministry of at least six different pastors, Joyce was a familiar and stable figure in which the church members and the community benefited. A confidant for many, a valuable memory bank of the church's history, and a connection for numerous church missionaries around the world, she was able to keep much of the First Baptist Church family connected to each other and the community.
Her love and trust in the Lord began in 1971 thanks to the ministry of Medina First Baptist Church missionaries, Dave and Beth Toro. Their explanation of how Jesus Christ has made forgiveness for our sin and reconciliation with God possible through His death and resurrection dramatically altered John and Joyce's life as well as their children. Her hosting of missionaries in their home for dinners or lodging, her discreet generosity to those in need or those serving God, her faithful prayers, and her willingness to serve in the church into the last years of her life were glowing testimonies of her heart for God and people.
Joyce was also a daughter, sister, wife, mom, grandma, and friend. In spite of never desiring the spotlight she impacted thousands upon thousands by encouraging and empowering her husband (teacher), children, and grandchildren. Due to her influence, they have gone on to become a missionary, teacher, music teacher, management at Disney World, coaches, military service people, and work with special needs adults.
Joyce is survived by her brother, Ken Klinger (Brookpark), son John (Pam) Saucier of Palm Coast, Florida, and daughters Jean (Tim) Volante of Davenport, Florida, Joan (Dwight) Schulz of Elkhart, Indiana, and Julie (Michael) Steingass of Burbank, Ohio; grandchildren Hannah, Brianna (Stephen) Van Matre, and Joshua Saucier, Drew and Lauren Schulz, Michael, Daniel, and Samuel Steingass. She is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Grace Klinger, husband John E. Saucier, and grandson Johnathan R. Saucier.
Visitation will be April 20, 2024, from 10am-12pm at Medina First Baptist Church, 3646 Medina Rd with a service to follow. In lieu of flowers, please remember her by doing random acts of kindness or giving to those in need and share them with us in the comment section of waitefuneralhome.com.
