June Marie Smith, 87 of Medina, passed away May 5, 2023, peacefully with her daughter at her side. June was born December 4, 1935, in North Royalton, Ohio, to the late Julius and Mary (Hermann) Farkas.

June was the head majorette of North Royalton High School, where she graduated in 1953. After graduation, a couple of friends and herself traveled to Florida looking for work. After a year of sunshine, she returned home and began working at Stans Studio in Cleveland, Ohio. That's where her business career began.

In 1971, raising two children on her own, she sold her home in North Royalton and moved her family to Medina. Here she started a business, Contemporary Photography Studio, along with business partner, David Mihalko (deceased.) Business was good and in 1983, together they purchased the old Mr. C's Donut shop and Auto Parts building in Medina as an investment.

Retiring from the photography business at the age of 50, she received her real estate license. She joined the real estate business, working for Relocation Realtor and Century 21. During her 11 years as an agent, she received the M illion Dollar Club award twice.

Not quite ready to fully retire, she bought a duplex in Medina and became a landlord, where she managed the books for the properties. Being a businesswoman was always in her blood. She finally fully retired in June 2016 at the age of 82, where she lived in the duplex she said she would retire in. She still stayed busy mowing the grass and tending to her flowers.

Though June led a busy life, she always had time for her grandkids. She was always there to cheer them on at their baseball, football, and soccer games. She loved the sleepovers and morning meals with them. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her son, Spencer Smith; her daughter, Melody Shockley; her grandchildren, Sierra Smith, T.J. (Amy) Shockley of Ohio, Brandon (Stephanie) Shockley of Lexington, Kentucky, and Joshua (Kali) Shockley of Medina, Ohio; her great grandchildren, Penelope, Carter, Kylee, Abagail, Levi, Hunter, Robbie, Logan, Raevyn, and Luna; her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Patricia Farkas (deceased); her niece and nephews, Harold (Susan,) Stevan (Jonnie,) Beth and Michael (Teiko), and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Patricia Farkas.

At her request, cremation has taken place and no service will be held. A private burial will take place at a later date as upon her request, her ashes will be laid to rest in her parents' graves.
