Lavinia J. Kirstein, 102, passed away October 19, 2024.

She was born in Hinckley on June 13, 1922 to Fred and Dana (Ritz) Ellis.

Lavinia is survived by her daughters, Lynn (Dale) Van Deusen and Lori Blueter; grandsons, Bryan Van Deusen, Jay (Katey), Travis (Amy) and Jeb (Robyn) Blueter; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, William; her parents; siblings, Viola Cadnum and Martin Ellis; and a granddaughter, Brittany.

Lavinia was a lifetime Hinckley resident and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. During World War II she worked as a "Rosie the Riveter." She was later active in the Women's Hinckley Athletic Club. Lavinia had an extensive Four Leaf Clover collection, and enjoyed planning parties, bowling, golfing, travelling, and playing poker.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 4, 2024, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1605 Center Rd., Hinckley. Interment will take place at Maple Hill Cemetery, Hinckley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Our Savior Lutheran Church.
