Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Leonard Thomas Friedel, age 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on September 10, 2024. Tom was born April 27, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late George and Mary (nee Scheiman) Friedel.
Tom served his country proudly in the United States Air Force, and later worked as an aircraft mechanic for United Airlines, retiring after 38 years of dedicated service. He was also a private pilot. Most of all, he was a devoted family man, and he will be dearly missed.
Tom's memory will be cherished by his wife of 60 years, Mary Ann (nee Coreman); children, Dan (Cathy) Friedel, Linda (Marc) Bentlin, Michelle (Dave) Yancey, Dave (Leigh) Friedel, and Ruth (Chuck) Stover; grandchildren, Ryan (Jennifer), Zach (Jill), Rachael, Brenna, Sydney, Sam, Skylar, Chris (Jessica), Jake, Emily, DJ, and Jarrett; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Ava, Logan, Dylan, and Piper; and sisters, Donna, Noreen, Mary (Magatte), and Toni. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings.
The family will welcome guests from 10:30 to 11:30 am on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at St. Colette Catholic Church, 330 West 130th Street, Brunswick, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30. Tom will be laid to rest with military honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.
