Obituary

Lester Stanley Reed, Sr. ( "Buddy") went to be with our Lord on March 5, 2026. He was born September 28, 1933, in Indiana, Pennsylvania to the late Hubert and Virginia Reed of Ernest, Pennsylvania. He grew up in Ernest, Pennsylvania, attending and graduating from Indiana High School in 1952. His first job was with a telephone company and then construction work with his uncle in Detroit, Michigan.

Buddy volunteered for the Army draft, specializing in "Radar" from 1955 to 1957. In 1956, he married Elizabeth Price of Indiana, Pennsylvania. They moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1958 where he began working at Iron Fireman Manufacturing. He later moved to Brunswick, Ohio in 1959 and, in 1960, he started and co-owned K and R Manufacturing. A few years later in 1962, Lester and Elizabeth's son, Lester Jr., was born.

He enjoyed hunting for deer and got a buck every year. Buddy worked with Boy Scout Troop 518 and was an avid square dancer. He was a member, usher, and active trustee of the Brunswick United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Brunswick VFW and the Lions Club of Brunswick. Along with Elizabeth, he traveled to Hawaii, Alaska, many bus trips in the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East.

Buddy is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Elizabeth Reed; devoted son, Lester Reed, Jr., and daughter-in-law Lorna Reed; cousins, Betty Jones, Mary Ellen Mansfield, Jeri Legeag, all of Ashville, NC; sister-in-law, Carol Simpkins of Bridgeton, NJ; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by his siblings, Peggy (Richard) Sabo and Eugene (Peggy) Reed, and many aunts and uncles.

Buddy was the youngest member, in the Reed family, of three.

A private graveside service with military honors will be held at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio.

A memorial service for Buddy may be announced at a later date.
