Linda Anne Metz, age 73, of Medina, Ohio, passed away on March 22, 2025. She was born to the late Leroy and Anna (Damm) McCreary on June 15, 1951, in Melrose Park, Illinois. Linda was a teacher, administrator, coach, gardener, avid reader, and above all else, Linda was a wonderful wife and mother.

Linda is survived by her husband of 50 years, Kenneth Metz; her children, Jennifer Crawford (Tony), Angela Wish (Michael), and Marcy Metz; her grandchildren, Peyton Crawford, Arden Wish, and Elise Wish; and a lifetime of collected friends and colleagues.

Linda married her Proviso East high school sweetheart and swimming partner Kenneth Metz in 1975. She received her Bachelor of Art degree in education from Northeastern Illinois State. Linda was adept at every role she took on, and was known as the dedicated, loyal matriarch of her family to her husband and three daughters. Linda was a studious pupil, passionate educator, avid reader, Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Guardians baseball fan, and a synchronized swimmer in her early years. Once married, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and traveling to new places. Ken and Linda built a lifetime of adventure together, moving from state to state early in their marriage and then settling in Northeast Ohio for the last 38 years. Their adventures continued with their three daughters along for the ride, creating lasting memories together. Ken and Linda celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this month and were surrounded by family and life-long friends to commemorate this milestone!

Linda was always the consummate helper, whether it be in the schools her children attended on the soccer field with her daughters' teams, or at any one of her family member's homes where the current home improvement project was taking place. You could count on Linda to be first to offer to do the dishes after a holiday gathering or to stop to pull a random weed on her way out after babysitting her grandchildren or accompanying Ken on his next fishing adventure. She was our family's rock (or should we say gemstone – she loved them all!) and well respected by her friends and peers. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

Family will receive friends from 12-3:00 pm, on Saturday, April 5, at Waite Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, OH 44256, immediately followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest with a private family ceremony at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, Illinois.
