Linda L. Williams

Cherished sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend, Linda Louise Williams, 85, was born in Cleveland, Ohio on November 9, 1940, and passed away on July 15, 2026 in Brunswick, Ohio. She was a life-long member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Her early years were spent in Cleveland, then on a farm in New London and later the family moved to Medina. Linda was a graduate of Mt. Vernon Academy (OH), Washington Missionary College (MD) with a B.S. in nursing, and the University of Maryland with an M.S. in child psychiatric nursing. During her nursing career she worked in several psychiatric hospitals in Maryland and also taught for many years at the UMD School of Nursing in Baltimore.

Linda's life was a testament to her desire to care for others, her love of the beach and all animals, especially cats and dogs. A favorite vacation destination was Sanibel Island, FL to spend hours collecting seashells, enjoying the sights and sounds of the waves coming ashore, and taking pictures of wildlife and sunsets. She later moved to Florida and resided there several years until returning to Medina to help her elderly widowed mother.

She cherished her niece and nephew and loved spending time with them. One of their fondest memories was going to the Ohio State Fair with their Aunt Linda. She spent a small fortune to ensure they would "win" a carnival prize which took approximately 20+ attempts each. They went home beaming holding their “prize” of a giant stuffed animal that was too big to carry and almost didn’t fit in the car. When they were older, she hosted them for a memorable Disney World vacation.

Linda had a very special place in her heart for her grandnieces and grandnephews. She would jump into her car and drive the 8+ hour journey to see them any opportunity she could. With every trip came lots of special moments that will be remembered fondly.

Linda loved her family and friends very much. She especially cherished her treasured friends and neighbors - (the late) Marjorie, Kelly, Chris and Deb. Their thoughtfulness helped Linda in countless ways. She sincerely looked forward to their frequent visits. The family is forever grateful for them and their indispensable role in helping care for Linda and their irreplaceable friendships. The care given to Linda by the staff at the Willowood Care Center in Brunswick is also very much appreciated by the family.

Linda is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Elaine (Williams) Congdon and Bruce Congdon; her niece and nephew-in-law, Kathleen (Congdon) Amalfitano and Joseph Amalfitano; her nephew, Benjamin Congdon; and her beloved grandnephews and grandnieces, Matthew, Luke, Julia, and Anna Amalfitano. She was preceded in death by her parents Lois (Stoll) Williams and Earl Williams, her maternal grandparents, Herbert Stoll and Wilhelmina (Holkenburg) (Stoll) Gibson and paternal grandmother, Alexis (Kutish) Williams.

A graveside celebration of Linda's life will be held at Riverside Cemetery, 3607 Pearl Road, Cleveland, OH on August 7 at 9:30 am. The family invites all who knew her to attend and share their favorite memories. Waite & Son Funeral Homes (Medina Chapel) is handling local arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Linda's memory to any charity that involves animal welfare.
