Mae Lynette "Mae Lyn" Morrisey, 71 years old, of Medina, Ohio (formerly of Burlington, NC), passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 23, 1955, in Pasadena, California to the late Sadie (née Harding) and Joe M. Sams.
Mae lived a life marked by faith, leadership, and devoted service to others. She earned her bachelor's degree in biblical studies from Oral Roberts University, grounding her life in scripture. She was a devoted member of New Life at Hocutt Church in Burlington, North Carolina for many years. As a lay biblical counselor, she offered guidance rooted in scripture, encouragement, and prayer to those navigating life's challenges.
She devoted herself fully to her family as a homeschooling mother to her three children. She considered this one of her greatest joys and most meaningful accomplishments. Professionally, she served as Executive Director at Cornerstone Medical Center.
A dedicated servant-leader, she served as President of the Medical Society Auxiliary, where she fostered fellowship, outreach, and support within the medical community. She was also a gifted teacher and mentor, investing deeply in the spiritual and personal growth of her community. She gave of her time and energy to charitable causes including New Directions International and Positive Attitude Youth Center. She was an avid reader and loved spending her time studying biblical Hebrew and Greek.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Lemont; her three loving children, Joanna (David) VanZanten, Laura Morrisey, and Matthew Morrisey; cherished grandchildren, Jackson, Kailynn, Eli, Nathan, and Zoey VanZanten; her sisters Patricia and Barbara; and a wide circle of friends, colleagues, and those she discipled. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Carol.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at 1pm at Waite Funeral Home Medina, 765 N. Court St. Medina, Ohio 44256. She will be laid to rest at Northwest Lafayette Cemetery.
