Margery
Marino
July 29, 1945 – October 22, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of Margery (Marge) Ann Marino (née McGuire), 80 of Parkland, Florida, who left us peacefully surrounded by family on October 22, 2025.
Born in Toledo, Ohio, to Richard and Beatrice McGuire (née Daniels) on July 29, 1945, Marge graduated from Toledo DeVilbiss High School in 1963. She earned a Bachelor of Education degree, specializing in French and Spanish, from the University of Toledo in 1967, and a Master of Library Sciences from Bowling Green State University in 1987. She taught in many school districts in Lorain County over her 30-year career as a teacher, ending at Southview High School in Lorain. In 2000, Marge retired to Estero, Florida, and pursued a second career as a librarian in Lee County for 13 years.
Along the way, she married Charles Marino on February 22, 1969, and built a life that yielded four daughters: Stacy Marino (deceased, Ronald Smith), Kelly Gifford (Craig), Sara Marino, and Rachel Vital (Raymond). Her three grandchildren are Avery, Graeme, and Natalie.
As a foreign language teacher, Marge loved traveling. She enjoyed leading class trips with her Southview students, and after moving to Florida, she and Charles traveled on many cruises including Europe, the Caribbean, Alaska, and Hawaii. Their most memorable cruise was a 55-day voyage from Ft. Lauderdale to Istanbul and back in 2016.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Beatrice McGuire, her siblings Loren McGuire and Irene Watkins, and her daughter Stacy. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A woman of deep faith, Marge was an active member of the Catholic Church throughout her life. She served multiple parishes over the years as a dedicated lector (reader), a Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) teacher, and a faithful sponsor, guiding many individuals through their journey into the Catholic faith.
In lieu of flowers, donations to one of the following in memory of Marge are appreciated: St. Peter's School in Lorain, OH; Holy Martyrs Catholic Church in Medina, OH; or Catholic Charities USA.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, November 20, 2025 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Waite Funeral Home 765 N Court St., Medina, OH 44256. Memorial Mass on Friday, November 21, 2025 at 10:00 AM in Holy Martyrs Church 3100 Old Weymouth Rd., Medina, OH 44256. Inurnment Resurrection Cemetery, Valley City, OH.
