Obituary

Mark Lawrence Coulis, age 68, of Brunswick, passed away peacefully at home on September 10, 2026. Born December 8, 1957, in Cleveland, Ohio, Mark was the son of John and Joan (Ehasz) Coulis.

Mark served his country in the US Navy. He went on to build a successful and respected career as a mechanical engineer, most recently working as the Director of Design and Pre-Construction with Ajay Glass Company. Talented and accomplished in his field, Mark’s work included patents bearing his name, a reflection of both his ingenuity and the pride he took in his profession.

While Mark was proud of his career, some of his happiest moments were spent outdoors and surrounded by his family. He was a proud daddy to his three daughters and Peebaw to seven grandchildren. He loved fishing and treasured time at his family’s property in Canada along the Montreal River. He and his father built a cabin there, creating a special place that became the setting for countless memories.

Friendly and easy to talk to, Mark was well-liked by everyone. People were naturally drawn to him, and he could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. Above all, he was devoted to Nancy, his wife of 45 years. Mark made sure that Nancy always knew how deeply she was loved, treating her like a queen.

Mark is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy (Combs); his children, Jamie Coulis (Brad Adamini), Taylor Coulis-Franca (Diogo Franca); his son-in-law, Mark Lewis; his grandchildren, Scott (Victoria) Bacon, Baily Bacon, Kallie, Mikayla, and Mikey Zorn, and Jak and Oliver Lewis; his sister Heather Coulis; and many extended family member and friends. He was also joyfully awaiting the arrival of a new grandchild as well as his first great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sarah Rose Lewis; his mother Joan Coulis; and his sister, Debra Lashen.

A Celebration of Life will take place from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday September 25, 2026, at Waite Funeral Home, 3300 Center Road, Brunswick. Military honors will be rendered at 7:00 pm.
