Martin A. "Marty"
Reitz
Jan 1, 1944 — Aug 26, 2026
Brunswick, OH
Martin A. “Marty” Reitz, 82, of Brunswick, passed away August 26, 2026. He was born in St. Louis, MO on January 1, 1944, to Raymond and Ida Mae (Martin) Reitz. Marty was an elevator guy, following in the path of his dad and older brother. This led to his decades long career in the “family business”. Outside of work, he was known as “Mr. Fix-It”, fixing anything for everyone. He thoroughly enjoyed his airplane and motorcycle, as well as camping and hunting. In later years, he enjoyed woodworking, gifting those he loved with napkin holders, wooden reindeer and corn hole boards. He loved meeting his friends for coffee at McDonalds every Sunday. He could be a man of few words but treasured his moments with his friends and family. He was solid and strong and provided for his family every single day. He rarely complained, liked water with lots of ice, and never wore shorts in the summer or a coat in the winter. He usually had cuts on his fingers from tinkering in the basement and you could tell if he was home if his black shoes were by the door. He was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a brother, an uncle, a jokester, a helper, a good friend and will be missed by all of us for so many reasons.
Martin is survived by his spouse, Carol (Girard); his children, Dennis (Terri) Reitz, Valerie (Jim) Lash, Shellie (Nick) Schmitz, Carole (Anthony) Campomizzi, Lori (Sean) Giguere, and Mike (Ashley) Reitz; grandchildren, Rachel, Nick, Steve, Nolan, A.J., Rocco, Olivia, and Rylee; and a sister, Waline Schieman. He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Peggy Lash; and siblings, Jerry Reitz and Sister Mary Alice Reitz, SND. Visitation will be held from 12-2 pm, Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Waite Funeral Home, 3300 Center Rd., Brunswick, followed by a Memorial Service at 2 pm.
