Mary Jane Cavey, 96, passed away on February 9, 2017. She was born in Boston, MA on January 29, 1921 to the late John Joseph and Mary Kathleen (Foley) Simons. Mary Jane honorably served her country in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. After her military service, Mary Jane worked at Medina Hospital in the nursery and then at Sears Department Store in the credit department. She will be dearly missed by her family. Mary Jane is survived by her sons Martin (Sandy), James (Diana), Michael (Shelia), Lawrence (Jessica), John (Sherre), and Robert Cavey; daughter Mary Jane Legan; 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence M. Cavey; son Richard Cavey; grandson John Cavey; and sister Mary Kathleen McDermott. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, February 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church, 606 E. Washington St., Medina. Family will receive friends Sunday from 2-6 p.m.at Waite and Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. Private family burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
