Obituary

Mary Rose Loch of Medina, Ohio passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born January 8, 1927, in Harmony Junction, Pennsylvania, to the late Carl E. and Mary Catherine (Gerlock) Lubitz and lived most of her life in New Castle, Pennsylvania.

Mary Rose carried a youthful spirit through all 99 of her years. She was known for her stories and laughter, lighting up any room she entered and making people smile within minutes of meeting her.

She believed life was meant to be enjoyed and that some rules were meant to be broken. She was a night owl who preferred chocolate over vegetables, fed pets under the table when no one was looking, and even in her later years challenged herself simply to prove she was still young.

Her family and her pets were the center of her world. Her home was always welcoming and full of conversation, her famous chocolate chip cookies, and of course politics. Many memories were made during family holiday gatherings and vacations, and in recent years she especially treasured watching her four great grandchildren grow.

Without ever needing to say it directly, she taught those around her that family comes first, laughter matters, and life should be lived fully at every age.

She is survived by her three dear children, David (Sharon) Sager; Pamela (Michael) Loch; and Daniel (Pamela) Loch; her stepchildren Thom (Gale) Loch and Lee (Denny) Smith; cherished grandchildren Kristin (Raul) Gongora, Matthew (Diana) Sager, Stephanie (Donald) Richardson, Amanda Loch, and Michael Smith; and her beloved great grandchildren Treyden Tripp, Kaylee Tripp, Benicio Gongora, and Samuel Sager.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her siblings.

A celebration of Mary Rose's life will be announced at a later date at www.waitefuneralhome.com , where condolences and memories may also be shared.

In lieu of flowers, Mary Rose's life may be remembered and honored by donating to one of the charities she supported:

Alley Cat Allies

Doctors Without Borders

The Salvation Army

We will miss her stories, her humor, and the way she always made life a little more fun, but our lives remain brighter because of her.
