Obituary

Chris Simpson passed away at the age of 98 on April 2, 2026.
Known for her flair for fashion, cooking and entertaining, she could be overheard telling stories to rapt audiences which were determined by highly skilled professionals to have been exaggerated by an average of 78%.

She loved sandwiches from what she called "Chick-A-Fil" and "Five Guys and a Truck".
Never to be left behind the times, she was well into her 90s while keeping up with her many friends and family on Facebook.

Chris was a voracious reader of books and read two newspapers each day. She was an avid sports fan, a lover of music & a talented piano player; the accompanist for many a "sing along" with friends throughout her life. She randomly broke into song and the correct lyrics were always optional.

Chris was a proud West Virginian from Huntington and was known for her southern colloquialisms; such as asking, "throw an eye in the oven and check to see if that pie is done."

Chris modeled briefly in college, waterskied, parasailed, competed in her local Senior Olympics, and volunteered at a Rape Crisis Hotline.

Chris met Bill Simpson, WWII veteran at their alma mater, Marshall College. They were married in 1949 and happy together for nearly 63 years. She was survived by her three children

Scott Simpson (Joyce), Cathy Marrone (Danny), and Mary Jean Simpson (Richard) and grandchildren, Elizabeth Miller (Aaron), Meghan Burley (Dylan) and Amanda Essick (Joe), great grandchildren Finn Miller, Margot Miller and Blake Burley. She is preceded in death by her husband, (George) Bill Simpson, her parents, Charles and Lela Seiber (Holtzworth), brother, Charles Seiber, sister Carolyn Moors (Joe), and sister Gene Evans (Johnny).

Her effervescent personality, vivacious charm & joy for life will live on in our hearts forever.

A memorial service will be held St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 606 E. Washington St., Medina, OH 44256 on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, OH at 12:45 p.m.  Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.waitefuneralhome.com.
