Together Forever

Maxine Barbara Alber (Myers) was born in Akron on January 5, 1931 and was called home to be with her Savior on June 29, 2022. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Alba and Willa Myers, her loving husband, our Dad, Richard in 2005, her son-in-law Jeffrey Blazeff in 2009, a pre-born great-grandchild, her brother-in-law Lloyd Alber and recently departed friends Charlotte Webster, Elzora Alber, Nancy Metzger, and Fran Chase.

Maxine married her high school sweetheart Richard L. Alber in 1951 and they were married 53 years until his death.  Maxine graduated from Granger High School in 1949. After graduation she attended Hammel Business School and was selected for employment at Bender & Louden Trucking Company until her retirement in 1989. Maxine and Dick spent winters in Zepherhills, Florida.  She was Saved and baptized as a young age of 9 years old at the Akron Baptist Temple where she was a member for 75 years.  While they were in Florida, they were members of 1st Baptist Church.  Her favorite Bible verse learned is still her favorite today, 1 John 4:19 " We love Him because He first loved us".

Mom enjoyed volunteering for the Granger Township Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary during the time Dad was the fire chief. She operated radio from their home until the fire department had enough volunteers for it to be done at the fire station. A favorite memory we have of Mom is her knitting blankets for wedding and baby gifts. Her greatest love in her life was her family. Mom enjoyed watching her grand and great-grandchildren grow up. She also loved her knitting, reading Christian novels and the Cleveland Indians.

Maxine is survived by her daughters Linda (Bill) Simmons and Lu Ann (Steve) Skapura; son Darren (Holly) Alber; grandchildren: Kelly (Kevin) Broadsword, Craig (Stacy) Simmons, Jenna (Adam) Rupp, Jeffrey II (Amber) Blazeff and Christopher (Samantha) Blazeff, and step-grandsons Aaron and Andrew Pohelia ; Great-Grandchildren: Tim, Gracie, Ellyssa, Shane, Blake, Karlee, Kinslee, Kalli, Wyatt, Jace and Riley.  She is also survived by her brother John D. Myers, her sister-in-law Charlene Alber, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews that she loved dearly and her friends.

A special thanks to Joel Peddle of HMC Hospice for guiding the family in Mom's last hours.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Granger Fire Department, 3737 Granger Road, Medina or HMC Hospice of Medina County, 5075 Windfall Road, Medina.
