Megan M. Placek, age 44, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. She was born June 24, 1981, in Middleburg Hts., Ohio to Ronald and Margaret (nee Solocius) Galla. Megan graduated from Strongsville High School in 1999, Tri-C in 2001, and continued her education at Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, graduating in 2003, as a Licensed Funeral Director. Megan was a great cook and loved gardening. She loved going out to fancy dinners on date night and traveling. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and watching her children play at their sporting events. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Left to celebrate Megan’s life is her beloved husband of 17 years, Jeffrey Placek; her cherished children, Declan and Cecelia; her siblings, Tracie Johnston (Steven), brother-in-law, Gary (Tracy) Placek, Scott Placek, sister-in-law, Kimberly Nawrocki; mother-in-law, Patricia Placek; nieces and nephews, Alex, Samantha, Rachel, Jason (Ashley), Justin, Jessica (Doyle) Tyler, Makayla, Mackenzie, Katlynn and Natashia; and many extended family and friends.

Megan is preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert and Dorothy Solocius, Richard and Vida Galla; brother-in-law, James Nawrocki; father-in-law, Norman Placek; and niece, August-Anna Placek.

Family will receive friends from 4pm – 7pm on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Waite Funeral Home located at 3300 Center Rd. in Brunswick with a memorial service starting at 6:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Crosspointe Community Church, 7730 Lake Rd., Chippewa Lake, OH 44215 ~or~ Stewart Caring Place, 3501 Ridge Park Drive, Fairlawn, OH 44333. A Special Thank You to Krystal, Janine and December at University Hospital for the loving care they showed Megan during her time there.
