Michael J. Joyce

Michael J. Joyce, age 86, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on January 7, 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, Mike was the son of the late Martin and Emma (Edmonson) Joyce. He shared 64 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sandra (Sherman) Joyce, building a life rooted in love, devotion, and family.

Mike was a dedicated railroad engineer, retiring from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 25 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed woodworking, home remodeling projects, taking care of his lawn, and the days he spent working on the family farm in Hinckley. More than anything, Mike was a man devoted to his faith and his family.

A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Mike's greatest legacy is the family he cherished. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Joyce; his children, Susan (Frank) Costanzo, Steven Joyce, Elaine Joyce, Brian (Charlene) Joyce, and Vanessa (Jim) Butsko; his grandchildren, Renee (Kyle) Vogley, Blake Butsko, and Logan Butsko; and his great-grandchildren, Viera, Gemma, and Liam Vogley. He also leaves behind his siblings, Pat Oldfield, Thomas Joyce, Roe Kepke, Jim Joyce, and Nora Fairbanks

In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his son, David Joyce; his grandson, Dominic Butsko; and his siblings, Robert Joyce, Martin Joyce, and Carol Peffer.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm at Waite Funeral Home, 3300 Center Road, Brunswick. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 pm, followed by interment at Hope Memorial Gardens.
