Jr.

Michael Sherba, Jr., age 81, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024. He was born May 31, 1943, to Michael and Mildred (nee Halligan) Sherba Beemer in Cleveland, Ohio. A well-respected man who wasn't afraid of any challenges that came his way. Michael had a gift for designing and fabricating unique products to fill the void in various markets. Among other ventures, he started Controlled Access, Inc. in Hinckley.
Michael was a beloved husband, devoted father to eight children and cherished grandfather and great grandfather. He loved spending time with his family, cooking, and traveling. He had various hobbies in life which included flying and building hot air balloons, flying ultralight aircraft, fishing, and boating. Michael was an avid traveler and has been on every continent except Antarctica. He has sailed on numerous cruises with his beloved wife of 63 years, Sylvia, who passed away on May 17, 2024.
He is survived by his loving children, Crystal Smith, David Sherba, Michele Sherba (Scott Prietz), Michael Sherba, Tammi (Louis) Chaki, and Derek (Katrina) Sherba, his grandchildren, Robert, Cindy, Catalina, Nathan, Lydia, Lillian, Audrey and Amiah; his great grandson, Kyren; siblings Richard (Patty) Sherba, Barb (Jim) Baldy, Bridget (Ron) Brushaber and Mary Jo (Andy) Dziak; brother-in-law Jeff Phan; many extended family members; and a lifetime of collected friends and colleagues.
Other than his wife, Sylvia, Michael is preceded in death by his sons, Daniel Sherba and Brian Sherba (Debbie Mercier); his sister, Nancy Phan; and his parents.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 23, 2024, from 3:00pm to 8:00pm at Waite Funeral Home located at 3300 Center Road in Brunswick, OH with a Parastas service at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, September 24th at 11:00am at St. Emilian Byzantine Catholic Church located at 1231 Substation Road in Brunswick, OH. A graveside service will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hinckley, OH.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Michael's memory to The COPD Foundation, 3300 Ponce de Leon Boulevard, Miami, Florida 33134.
