Michael R. Skoczen, 32 of Brunswick passed away on Thursday, August 20 in Strongsville. He was born on April 6, 1977 in Fairview, Ohio. Michael was a nurse, and he was currently a U.S. Army Reservist stationed out of the 256th Combat Support Hospital in Brooklyn, Ohio. He served the U.S. Army in Iraq from 2006 until 2007. He is survived by his parents Leonard & Elizabeth (nee Herrick) Skoczen of Brunswick; beloved daughter Anna Marie Skoczen; loving girlfriend Kim Steppenbacker of Strongsville, grandparents Leonard Skoczen, Sr. of Hinckley and Elizabeth (Fred) Saleem of Brunswick; brothers Steven (Leah) Skoczen of Mayfield Heights and Nicholas Skoczen of Brunswick; sister Melanie and nephew Jacob Skoczen of Brunswick; and loving aunts and uncle. Preceded in death by his grandmother Mildred Skoczen Friends may call at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 3300 Center Road (Rt 303 at I-71) on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 with a funeral service following at 8 PM. A private family burial will be held at a later time at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
