It is with immense sorrow that we announce the passing of our precious son Patrick Alan Boyd, on September 1st 2026, in Talkeetna Alaska. He was born on June 18, 1988 and lived in Brunswick until leaving for the military.

Patrick is survived by his parents James and Lisa Boyd, Maternal Grandmother Ann Marie Riendeau, Siblings Jennifer Simmerman (Sam), Allison Boyd and Kevin Boyd, Nephews Colton Simmerman, Landon Simmerman, Jace Simmerman and Drake Simmerman, as well as many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Robert and Bernadine Boyd, Maternal Grandfather John Riendeau Sr. and his beloved service dog Veronica.

Patrick was full of energy and enjoyed talking to anyone he would meet. Nobody was a stranger. He had a huge heart for people who needed love, and he often showed compassion towards people many overlook, whether bringing lonely elderly or homeless people to dinner, or holding hands and encouraging disabled children and adults, even if they could not speak back to him. He had a special way of letting each person know they mattered.

Patrick loved people and loved his country, serving proudly in the United States Marine Corps from 2006-2011. He loved his “Marine Family” and knew he was where he belonged. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton, as well as in Okinawa Japan and served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. He spoke highly of the people in Iraq, connecting with interpreters and civilians, who told him and us they were grateful for the US military supporting them. He unfortunately experienced the true horrors of war in Afghanistan, and was never the same after “surviving,” while his fellow soldiers were killed beside him. He struggled daily with that guilt and is a reminder that Not All Wounds Are Visible.

Patrick loved God above all, and often looked to scripture for comfort.

Psalm 91:1-2 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust”.

Rest dear Patrick. Rest now in God’s loving arms.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 pm, Friday, September 11, 2026, at Waite Funeral Home, 3300 Center Rd., Brunswick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am, Saturday, September 12, 2026, at St. Ambrose Parish, 929 Pearl Rd., Brunswick. Burial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests making donations to the City Mission in honor of Patrick.
