Obituary

Philip Earl Nicholson, 78 years old, of Medina, Ohio, passed away on January 6, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 4, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Burton and Ruth (Wilks) Nicholson.

Philip was always a curious soul and saw himself as an entrepreneur of sorts, as quoted "I am a jack of all trades, not the master of one.  I know a little something about everything, but not a lot about anything".  While appeasing his curiosity, he did graduate college with a degree in Engineering and served his country in the United States Navy, but his most important roles were as a husband and father. He enjoyed many things in his life such as delicious food, meaningful music, time outdoors, strength of silence, a talented stained-glass artist and had a passion for all things a little unordinary.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 Years, Claire Lois (Beaumier) Nicholson; children Jennifer Vilimonovic (Stevan), Laura Capuozzo (Michael), Stephen Nicholson, Cheryl Midian (Marty) and Amy Simpson (Kevin); siblings Diane Jones and Paul Nicholson (Nancy); grand-children Samantha Tietjen, Anna and Angelina Vilimonovic, Christopher and Patrick Capuozzo, Toussaint Oatman-Nicholson, Lincoln and Will Midian; and Nathaneal, Josephine and Sheena Simpson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Pamela Bottesch, and brothers-in-law Ronald Jones and David Bottesch.

Private services will be held, but a public celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Medina United Church of Christ.
