Raymond Arnold
Eaton
June 8, 1942 – March 29, 2025
Raymond Arnold Eaton passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025. Ray was surrounded by loved ones as he said goodbye and made his peace in this world. His family is deeply saddened and will miss his presence terribly.
Ray was born on June 8, 1942 , to the late Norman Robert Eaton and Jessie Marie (nee Van Deusen) Eaton. He grew up on the west side of Cleveland and was raised almost entirely by his mother and grandmother, Sadie Van Deusen while his father was serving in the war. Ray attended Sackett Elementary School and Lincoln High School where he graduated with the Class of 1960. He loved to share stories of growing up that included sneaking into the old Cleveland Municipal Stadium to watch baseball games and the Cleveland Zoo.
Ray went on to work for the Eaton Corporation until 1981 and then was an STNA for Samaritan Care Center and Villa in Medina, Ohio until his retirement in 2005. Ray was a very handy guy around the house and loved completing DIY projects, He collected beer cans from all over the country. He enjoyed sports including the Cleveland Indians and then Cleveland Guardians, the Cleveland Browns, and The Ohio State Buckeyes. On the day before his death he knew both the Guardians score and even who pitched!
Ray is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Diana Eaton; daughter, Tina Eaton (Peter); son, Ronald (Jennifer) Eaton; daughter, Catherine (Matthew) Burland; step-daughter, Jennifer (Russell) Silvey; grandchildren, Kiersten (Erik) Claxon, Hannah Eaton, Grace Eaton, Noah Eaton, Ivy Burland, Lillian Silvey, and Henry Silvey; great grandchildren, Lucille Claxon and Daisy Claxon.
Ray is preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie K. (nee Quimby) Eaton the mother of his three children, and his parents.
Ray was a very thoughtful man, especially toward his family... he never missed a birthday or Christmas. He was always asking how everyone was doing and worried if anyone was unwell. Ray survived cancer in 2016, even though that time in his life was very difficult, he complained little. As Ray grew older he enjoyed going to church and puttering around the house and yard with Diana. They also enjoyed several wonderful trips together including cruises to Alaska and Vancouver, Canada. They also enjoyed trips to the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas.
Although he is no longer with us, we will forever remember his kind and unassuming presence. Ray, Dad, Papa...we love you and will always miss you!
