Raymond M. Lucia, Sr., 85, of Brunswick, passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. He was born on May 2, 1941, in Jeannette, Pennsylvania, to the late Wade and Helen (Holp) Lucia.
Ray was a 1959 graduate of West Tech High School. He dedicated 35 years of service to the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier before retiring and continued to work a multitude of jobs throughout his retirement.
A man of deep and unwavering faith, Ray was a devout Christian and a member of Cleveland Christian Church. His faith was an important part of his life, and he enjoyed listening to Gospel music. Ray also loved fishing, traveling, helping others and spending time pursuing the things that brought him joy. A devoted Star Trek enthusiast, he embraced all things related to the beloved series and proudly served as an officer in the Cleveland Chapter of The International Federation of Trekkers, USS Challenger. His enthusiasm for Star Trek was just one of the many interests that made Ray so memorable to those who knew him.
Above all, Ray cherished his family. He shared 54 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sylvia. He showed his unwavering devotion and care for her during her illness before her passing in 2016. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, and treasured memories. Ray's legacy lives on through the generations of family who will remember him with love.
Ray is survived by his children, Raymond M. "Chip" (Tina) Lucia and Wendy (Cory) Dennis; grandchildren, Cory (Caylin) Lucia, Madison Lucia (fiancé, Jeremy Smith), Andy (Ciera) Weidman, Steven (Becca) Weidman, Tiffany Weidman, and Michael Colberg; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sylvia Lucia, and his sister, Madeline Lucia.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Waite Funeral Home, 3300 Center Road, Brunswick, Ohio 44212, where a service celebrating Ray's life will follow at 5:00 p.m.
