Obituary

Raymond L. Notarian, 83, of Medina, passed away March 17, 2026, after a long, courageous battle against cancer.

He was born in Cleveland on October 9, 1942 to Sam and Rose (Terrizzi) Notarian.

Ray is survived by his wife of 22 years, Nancy (Bender); his children, Tina (John Alan) Angle and Raymond Notarian Jr.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Sam Notarian Jr.; and his former spouse, Jean Notarian.

Ray was a police officer and Dare officer. Upon retirement, he was a manager at Original Mattress Factory. He was also an ordained minister and officiated at many marriages, none more joyful than that of his daughter Tina to her husband, John Alan. He proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserve, Ohio National Guard. He was an active member of the Medina County Marine Corps League, was it's long-time chaplain, was active on the Honors Team, marched in numerous parades, volunteered his time with Toys for Tots, and was named "Member of the Year" for 2019.

Ray enjoyed sports, participating in marathon races, and long-distance bike events. He was an excellent golfer, a softball player and enjoyed just quiet bikes rides and runs through Hinckley Reservation. He and Nancy took several cross-country train trips where he could relax and enjoy the scenery. Ray also enjoyed attending Indians/Guardians games, and watching the Cavs, Browns, Buckeyes, and Notre Dame. He daily worked on word puzzles and regularly waxed his car, listening to "the oldies" and to Saturday morning polkas.

Visitation will be held from 2-6 pm, Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Waite Funeral Home, 3300 Center Rd., Brunswick. Funeral services will take place at the funeral home on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 11:30 am. Interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville at 2:15 pm.
