It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Richard "Rick" Eugene Detamore, 63 of Spencer TWP, OH. Rick passed away Thursday December 23, 2021 after a hard fought battle with a sudden  illness.  Rick was born August 30, 1958 to Ruth R. Detamore and grew up in Chippewa Lake, OH. After graduating from Cloverleaf High School in 1976, he went on to work for TLT Babcock as a Service Engineer for over 40 years, finally retiring in January of 2021.

Rick traveled the world because of his job, but his favorite place was always home; tinkering on 10 new projects at a time, sneaking a nap any chance he could get and spending quality time with friends, family and loved ones and giving the best belly rubs to his pup, Kaydee.

With a passion for doing everything in life in a big way, Rick never shied away from going above and beyond. He was not one to do "small," ever. He would give the shirt off his back for anyone without hesitation and there wasn't a thing he could not fix or upgrade.  Anyone who knew Rick was touched by his generosity, mild temperament and endless knowledge of just about anything you could think of.


Rick is survived by his Life Partner, Rhonda Walkden; Brother Delbert M. (Carol Jean) Gossett; sisters Nancy (Gene) White and Reta (Paul) Selby; step children Matthew (Chrissy) Crapo and Randi Crapo; grandchildren: Rhylan, Keegan, and Amyah; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Ruth R. Detamore; brother Randy L. Wightman; and his sister Donna R. Dilley.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am-1:00 pm on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, OH 44256.  A celebration of his life will immediately follow at 1:00 pm on Thursday at the funeral home. Rick will be laid to rest at Waltz Cemetery.
