Richard Lewis Harris, age 86, of St. Louis, Missouri, passed away on August 12, 2024, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was born on March 27, 1938, in Mount Gilead, Ohio, to the late Lloyd and Lucille (Meckley) Harris.
Richard had a distinguished career as an engineer and business leader, eventually serving as President of Calmar, Inc. His engineering expertise and leadership were key to his success, as he guided teams to create innovative solutions. In retirement, Richard returned to his love of making things, dedicating time to inventing new products—a testament to his lifelong passion for creativity and problem-solving.
Outside of work, Richard had a deep passion for golf, spending three days a week on the course and often shooting his age or better. He also cherished time spent boating on Lake St. Louis, where he created lasting memories with family and friends.
Richard was the cornerstone of his family, serving as an exemplary husband, father, grandfather, and leader. His presence, wisdom, and love profoundly impacted those around him, and he will be dearly missed.
Richard is survived by his children, Cindy (Brian) Bishop and Jeff (Deidre) Harris; his grandchildren, Alex, Tom (Emily), Nate (Sarah), Nicole (Justin), and Mike (Grace); nine great-grandchildren; and his sister, Marcy Miller. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sandra (Soulier) Harris, who passed away in 2021.
