Richard Dennis "Rick" Kyer passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Rick was a devoted man of God whose faith was the foundation of his life. He shared the Gospel with everyone he met, offering encouragement, prayer, and hope to countless people. Known for his warm smile and positive spirit, Rick remained an inspiration to those around him, even throughout his illness. He was a longtime member of Cornerstone Chapel in Medina, where he faithfully worshiped and served alongside his church family.
Rick deeply loved his family and extended family and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leah and Hilbert Kyer; his brothers, Gilbert, Larry, George, and Roger Kyer; his sister-in-law, Donna Vickers; his brothers-in-law, Jim Deprizito, Jim Sperry, and Ralph Faircloth; and his parents-in-law, Ruth and Robert Smedick.
Rick is lovingly remembered by his wife of 23 years, Sue (Smedick) Kyer; his sons, Joshua and Jacob Kyer, and Alec Wood; his sisters, Linda (Chuck) Jack, Gail (Michael) Brinkley, Joyce (Tony) Rosario, and Carol (Eric) Diekman; his brother-in-law, Jim Vickers; his sister-in-law, Ruthann Faircloth; his granddaughter, Cassie (Andrew) Quillin; his grandsons, Jacob and Kooper Kyer; as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
A Celebration of Rick's Life will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Cornerstone Chapel, 3939 Granger Road, Medina, Ohio. Visitation will take place from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., with the memorial service immediately following at 11:00 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Rick's memory.
Rick's legacy of faith, love, generosity, and unwavering trust in God will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
