Richard A.
Stagliano
September 9, 1940 – September 30, 2025
Dr. Richard A. Stagliano, age 85, of Brunswick, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025. He was born in Rome, New York, on September 9, 1940, to the late Ralph and Frances (Squallace) Stagliano.
Richard earned a Bachelor of Science from Western Kentucky University, a Master of Science from Syracuse University, and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Akron. He was a dedicated professor at Cuyahoga Community College for 32 years, where he taught physical science, astronomy, and chemistry.
Beyond the classroom, Richard found joy in the outdoors and shared that love with his children and grandchildren through boating, skiing, hiking, bike riding, gardening, and stargazing. An avid golfer, he not only enjoyed the game himself but enjoyed teaching others. Richard loved to cook, and his homemade sauce, meatballs, and soups brought family and friends together. His lifelong curiosity inspired a love of travel and exploring new places. Above all, he cherished time with Kathy, the love of his life, his children, and grandchildren.
Though he grew up modestly and lived with frugality, Richard was profoundly generous. He gave freely to ensure that his family, friends, and favorite charities were cared for. He often reminded loved ones that the greatest gift we can give is our time with one another. His wisdom, offered in both quiet conversations and everyday guidance, was continually sought, and will always be treasured.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 57 years, M. Kathleen (McCormick) Stagliano; his loving daughters, Lisa Tecco (Donald) and Lori Stagliano Moran (Johnny); and his cherished grandchildren, Nicole Cooper (Drew), Lauren Tecco, Jacob Tecco, Drew Tecco, Allison Moran, and Mallory Moran. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Lincoln, Matthew, and Bennett Cooper. Richard will be remembered with love by many extended family members, lifelong friends, colleagues, and former students.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Joseph and Ralph Stagliano.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 1800 Station Road, Valley City, OH 44280. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 10:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest at St. Martin Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Richard's memory to the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park (www.conservancyforcvnp.org) or The Seidman Cancer Center at University Hospitals (www.uhgiving.org).
