Obituary

Robert "Bob" Joseph Bauer, 89, passed away peacefully August 28, 2026 surrounded by his beloved wife and children.

Born August 24, 1937, Bob proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He later built a long career in printing, including many years with American Greetings, before retiring and working part-time at Home Depot.

Bob was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather. He shared 68 years of marriage with the love of his life, Patricia “Pat,” and their enduring love was the foundation of the family they built together. He loved his wife deeply and was devoted to her throughout their life together. Their marriage was marked by loyalty, companionship, patience and a quiet love that was evident in the way he cared for her and stood by her through every season of life.

Bob was known for his calm, humble and gentle demeanor. He was a quiet, hardworking man who never sought attention or praise, preferring instead to show his love through his actions. He was dependable, kind and steady, and his family always knew they could count on him. A true jack-of-all-trades, he could build, repair or figure out just about anything. He enjoyed family gatherings, a good pour of Tito’s or bourbon, plenty of laughter and the simple joy of having the people he loved around him.

Above all, Bob loved his family deeply. He was especially proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them. His calm presence, humble spirit, quiet humor and unwavering love made him a source of comfort and strength to those around him. The lessons he taught through the way he lived—work hard, remain humble, care for your family and always be there for the people you love—will continue through the generations.

Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Bridgett Maynard-Dennis; his parents Mary Semancik, Joseph Bauer and Stepmother Margaret Bartos Bauer; and his siblings David Bauer, Joseph Bauer, Judy Armbruster, and Jim Bauer. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Patricia “Pat”; his children, Vicki Stetz (John), Heidi Rumancik (John), Chris Bauer (Joyce), Gretchen Baumhover (Dutch) and Megan Gilmore (Chad); his grandchildren; Tracy, Molly, Gabrielle, Brandon, Brittany, Zachary, Taylor, Molly, Grace, Jeffrey, Sophia, Alexis, Isabella, Natalya, Elliana, and Jake. His great-grandchildren, Ryan, Chloe, Zander, Jack, Jace, Evelyn, Brady, Avery, Aubrey, Luella and Owen; his surviving brother, Phillip Bauer; sisters-in-law, Linda Bauer and Jeanne Bauer; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends who will forever carry his memory with them.

His family finds comfort in knowing that Bob is finally at peace and reunited with those he loved who went before him. Though he will be deeply missed, his love, kind smile, strength and gentle spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

The family will receive friends at Waite Funeral Home: 765 N. Court Street, Medina, OH 44256, on Friday, September 4, 2026 from 5-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 10:30 am at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Military Honors will be held at St. Francis Xavier following Mass. Messages of comfort and support may be sent to Bob’s family at www.waitefuneralhome.com.
