Robert D.
"Red" Kinzel
September 1, 1937 – October 10, 2025
Robert "Red" Kinzel passed away Friday October 10, 2025. Red was born & raised in Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents: Robert & Doris Kinzel, the mother of his children, Gail Freeman; four younger siblings: Kenny, Dale, Mary Jane and Janice; and nephews Christopher and Kurtis.
Red was a proud polio survivor that didn't allow that to slow him down from working very hard throughout his lifetime. His first job was as a newspaper delivery boy to his post-retirement job as a Medina County Public Transit Bus driver. He often said, "Falling down is not a problem, you just need to roll properly."
Red is survived by his four children; Jody (Kirk) Kaufman, David Kinzel, Bruce (Michelle) Kinzel, and Lisa (Rick) Petek; and his life & traveling partner of over 30 years, Dotte Kayser. Red is also survived by his grandchildren; Jamie, Janell, Michael, Kara, Jordan, Nick, Elizabeth, Danielle and Olivia; step-grandchildren, Ryan, Kendall, Becca; many great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law.
Red was an accomplished automotive mechanic and a successful salesman for heavy duty engine parts at Clevite. His family would like to express our gratitude to the Life Care Center of Medina staff and especially the memory care nurses and aids for the loving and attentive care for Red as his health declined. Thank you also to the kind and caring Hospice nurses and staff and the Cleveland Clinic Hospital of Medina staff, nurses and doctors who cared for Red very well. The family would also like to thank Waite Funeral Home in Brunswick for handling the arrangements.
Our heartfelt thanks to all of those who have prayed faithfully for Red for his spiritual and physical needs these last several years.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Weymouth Community Church, 2756 Stony Hill Rd., Medina, OH. Donations may be made in Red's memory to Weymouth Community Church, attention Pastor Durbin; Feeding Medina County Non-Profit; or the Salvation Army.
Philippians 4:13: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
