Ronald Dean Bajcsi, 82, passed away early on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Ron was born on March 14, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio to Frank and Helen Bajcsi. While serving in the Air Force in Plattsburgh, NY, he met the love of his life, Bobbi, and they married soon after, only parting when Bobbi passed from health complications five days before their 49th wedding anniversary.
A natural athlete and fiercely competitive, Ron excelled in whatever sport he chose to focus on, from pole vaulting and diving while attending Berea High School, to motocross and hare scrambler dirt bike racing as a young father and husband in Ohio. After moving his family to Virginia, he played on the company softball team and spent several years in a bowling league with Bobbi. Later, Ron renewed his love for boating and waterskiing, enjoying time with family and friends on the Warwick River.
Ron was well-known for his ability to fix anything – cars, machines, appliances, whatever wasn’t working properly and sparked his interest and curiosity. He was invaluable when it came to the machines he kept running at Mueller Martini, where he worked from the time the family moved to Newport News, Virginia in October 1975 until his retirement due to disability in the late 1990s.
Known as “Crazy Uncle Ron” to his nieces and nephews, he cherished the title and the time spent attending his mother’s family reunion in Ohio each August. It brought back memories of days spent at Chippewa Lake when he was young, helping with the rides his family owned at the amusement park there, particularly the train ride.
Surviving family includes daughter Kim McCaffrey of Newport News and granddaughters Jenna and Keeley; daughter Miche McKeown (Berin) of Carmel IN, grandsons Baenan and Callum and granddaughters Aila and Niamh (dec); and son Brett Bajcsi (Ana) of Richmond, VA, and twin grandsons James and Cameron; sister Renee Albright (Terry) of Westfield Center, OH; sister Ruth Ann Frase of Salt Lake City UT; and a number of nephews and nieces and other extended family members. Ron was predeceased by his beloved brother and best friend, Richard East (Jeanne), and is undoubtedly overjoyed to see him again in the afterlife as well as his beloved wife, Bobbi.
A service will be held at Waite and Sons Funeral Home in Medina, OH on July 5, 2026, at 2 pm. A private burial attended by family members will take place on July 6 at Mound Hill Cemetery in Seville, OH.
The family extends its deepest gratitude and appreciation to the nursing and medical staff in the Bon Secours / Mary Immaculate ICU, and the nursing and medical staff at Select Specialty Hospital in Richmond.
