Obituary

Surrounded by her family, Rose C. Hackett (nee Crowley) passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 26, 2026. Born November 2, 1925, Rose made 100 trips around the Sun (plus 6 months and 26 days - we counted them all)! We counted all her days because she made all her days count. Born in Millville, New Jersey, to the late Joseph and Dora (nee Wangstrom) Crowley, raised the third oldest of nine children. Rose retired from General Motors. She loved spending time in Ocean City, NJ, at the Seashore and going to her favorite restaurant, The Crab Trap; enjoyed time with her sisters playing cards, and watching her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren in sports and school events in Ohio and Florida. It did not matter where or who she was with or what they were doing because her family meant everything to her. She was the true meaning of the matriarch of the family. She was loving, generous and selfless. There was no judgment, no nonsense, but love and she LOVED her Snicker bars!

We know she was greeted by so many of her family and friends who were called before her and we take some comfort in knowing she has wonderful company, but the void she leaves in our hearts is forever as the cherished mother to Patricia Bland (William, deceased), Charles (Debra) Hund and Linda Nichols. Dear sister to Irene Browne, Mary Bakke, and Joan McDonnell. Adoring and proud grandmother of Michele Grzybowski (Michael), George Birth (Kathy), Holly Hensley, Jared Hund, Robert Birth (Jen), Jennifer Hillbrand, Tricia Perrotti (Joseph), Wendy McJunkin (Eric), Amber Lake (Gordon), Charlie Hund, and Britney Garcia (Jeremy); 18 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. What a blessing ALL the grandchildren, great-grandchildren AND great-great grandchildren were to know and be loved by her!

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jeffery; son, Michael Hund; siblings, Joseph Crowley, Dora Porreca, Marge Hollinger, Mildred Fuller, and Elizabeth Cossaboon; grandson, William A. Bland, Jr.; and great-granddaughter, Sierra Bland.

We would like to thank Cleveland Clinic Hospice Services for their wonderful care and support to our mother/grandmother AND our family. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Cleveland Clinic Hospice at https://my.clevelandclinic.org/giving and select Hospice.

Family will receive friends Tuesday, June 2, 2026, from 5-8 p.m. at Waite and Son Funeral Home, 3300 Center Road, Brunswick, Ohio, 44212. Mass of Christian burial Wednesday, June 3, 2026, 11 a.m. with 1-hour prior visitation at St. Colette Catholic Church, 330 West 130th Street, Brunswick, Ohio, 44212. Burial Holy Cross Cemetery, 14609 Brookpark Road, Brook Park, Ohio. Online condolences and memories may be left for the family on Rose's guestbook at www.WaiteFuneralHome.com.
