Carpenter
February 5, 1949 – May 12, 2025
Roy Lee Carpenter, 76, of Medina, OH, passed away peacefully at his home on May 12, 2025, with his wife by his side. He was born in Buckhannon, WV on February 5, 1949, to James Carpenter and Irene Cogar Carpenter. Roy attended Buckeye High School, class of 1968, where he met his beloved Barbara and later married on April 4, 1970.
Roy was affectionately known for his unwavering love and devotion for his wife, love for family, especially his grandchildren, and his humor and smile. If you spent any time with Roy, you were laughing and smiling. He excelled in athletics, on the baseball field, the bowling alley, and the golf course. He also enjoyed hunting, but his true passion was classic cars. His 1956 Chevy Belair and 1940 Ford Coupe with a Chevy big block, (you cannot own a Ford unless it has a Chevy engine) were his pride and joy. Chevy man through and through. Roy was also a proud lifetime member of The Eagles Post #2224
Roy is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara Swingle Carpenter, two daughters, Michelle (Milton) Washington, Amy (Robert) Donner, his five grandchildren, Kaylen Washington, Jocee, Braylen, Brennen, and Branden Donner, and one great grandson, Takao Yacavone. His sisters, Sharon Hamrick, Sue (Mark) Faunce, brothers Larry (Theresa) Carpenter, Micheal (Sue) Carpenter, and brother-in-law, Steve Ramiser. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Roy was proceeded in death by his parents, his cherished sister, Brenda Ramiser, his brother-in-law's, Larry Hamrick and Bill Swingle, his sister in-law, Carol Perdue, his niece, Melinda Dunkle, nephew, Craig Dunkle, his beloved uncle, Cofer Carpenter, as well as several other aunts and uncles.
Roy's passing will leave a void and deep sadness in many hearts. Although his physical presence no longer graces our lives, he will forever live in our hearts and cherished memories.
The family will receive friends on Saturday May 17, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Sunday May 18th, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12 pm with funeral service immediately following at Waite Funeral Home, 765 North Court, Medina, OH 44256.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Crossroads Hospice Charitable Foundation, 10810 East 45th Steet, Suite 300, Tulsa, OK, 74146 in Roy's name.
