Ruth Markiewicz, age 95, passed away August 11, 2024. She was born June 29, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Joseph and Lillian (nee Hoffman) Pinto. She married Virgil Markiewicz in 1949, and they were married for 53 years, until his passing in 2002.

Ruth was a beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed baking, playing bunco, and playing cards with her Monday card group. Above all, she loved her family.

Left to cherish Ruth's memory are her children, Gary (Margaret) Markiewicz and Lynn (Lane) Davis; grandchildren, Michelle (Chris) Mitchell, Ahren (Mandy) Davis, Krista (Dave) Knapp, Kimberly (Adom) Mehwald, and Joseph Markiewicz; great-grandchildren, Bennet Knapp, Blake Mitchell, and Charleigh Mitchell; brothers, Raymond Pinto (Grace, deceased) and Joseph (Nina) Pinto; and cousin, Kenneth Emch. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lillian Pinto; her husband, Virgil Markiewicz; and her brother, Gerald (Shirley) Pinto.

The family extends a sincere thank-you to Ruth's special friends at Cardinal Court.

The family will welcome guests from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Waite Funeral Home, 3300 Center Road, Brunswick, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 606 E. Washington St, Medina, Ohio. She will be laid to rest at All Saints Cemetery in Northfield.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Ruth's memory to the Alzheimer's Association or Southwest Hospice.
