Obituary

Ryan Paul Brown, age 26, passed away on September 10, 2023 in Medina, Ohio. Ryan was born in Medina on November 27, 1996 to Josh Andrew and Rita (Tindell) Brown. Ryan fell in love with music at an early age, arranging pots, pans, and mixing bowls in myriad positions until he found just the right setup. Drums would not follow until later, but he pursued music by playing the piano for many years. He played several sports throughout junior high and high school: basketball, golf, and his favorite, football. In high school he began pursuing drums more fervently, taking lessons and playing music with his friends. He graduated from Christian Community School in 2015 as salutatorian of his class. He continued playing drums after high school, stopping his lessons, and forging his own way. He embarked on tours both regional and national, crossing the country on marathon drives with his friends. He played with a rarely seen blend of ferocity and precision. This combination of skills made him a popular drummer, playing in several bands in the Cleveland and Akron music scenes. Outside of music, he enjoyed the outdoors, hiking and bike riding. He learned and spoke American Sign Language and practiced it frequently. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Akron in the spring of 2023, earning a bachelor's degree in psychology. He was a dyed in the wool Browns fan, never missing an opportunity to watch them play. Above all else, he loved to spend time with those closest to him, lighting up a room with his megawatt smile.

Ryan chose a path that allowed him to help others with his work. He began as a caregiver for adults with disabilities, working around-the-clock shifts to provide for them. This led him to his job as a health unit coordinator in the emergency department at the Cleveland Clinic. He was continuing his education after his bachelor's degree, taking classes that would allow him to achieve his goal of becoming a physician assistant. Ryan's kind and gentle spirit gave so much life and joy to all of us. He moved through life with an endless curiosity and a desire to learn about the world. He loved to help those he cared for in any way that he could. His humor, empathy, enthusiasm, and humanity were a boundless source of happiness, and a blessing to all who knew him. We were, and will always be, so proud of our beloved Ryan.

Our love for Ryan will live on forever; he will be deeply missed by each of us. Yet we find great comfort that, thanks be to God, Ryan is with Jesus in Heaven. And that one day, we will be together again. John 14:1-3 "Do not let your heart be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."

Ryan is survived by his parents, Josh Andrew, and Rita (Tindell) Brown; siblings, Christopher Aaron (Kelsey Bachir) Brown; Trisha Suzanne (Sam) Deeb; niece and nephew, Naomi, and Isaiah Deeb; his beloved girlfriend, Carly Preston; aunts and uncles, Sam (Susan) Brown, Michael (Lillian) Tindell, Marianne (Mark) Hamilton, Martin (Nancie) Tindell, Maureen (Ray) Crawford, David (Dawn) Tindell, Ruthanne Tindell, Christine (Bob) Starcher; numerous cousins and extended family members, and a lifetime of dear friends and loved ones.
