Sandy Perkins, Jr., 97, a beloved father, grandfather, and pillar of his community, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home in Berea, Ohio, the morning of May 20th, 2026. He was born on September 13th, 1928 in Bobo, Mississippi to the late Sandy Perkins Sr. and Vinnie Perkins (Hall).
Sandy was employed by The Ford Motor Company as a Quality Control Inspector at Engine Plant 1 in Brookpark, Ohio. He was awarded perfect attendance for the complete 41 years of his employment. He was also the owner of Sandy Concessions which operated for 17 years at local sports venues like Lou Groza Field and Dora Lee Payne park. He also proudly drove trucks for his son Curtis’ company, C. Martin Trucking.
Sandy was a founding member of the North Berea Action Group, a local activist group dedicated to the betterment of his community through public service. Since October 3rd, 1993, he served faithfully as an Ordained Deacon at Cleveland’s Second Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
In retirement, Sandy remained active and health-conscious, taking daily walks of over three miles well into his 80s.
Sandy’s legacy is lovingly carried on by his surviving family: his daughters, Cynthia Perkins (Jackson) and Nadine Perkins (Patterson). His sons, Curtis R. Perkins and his late wife Patricia, LaDon Perkins and his wife Brenda, Sanford Perkins and his wife Melissa. His sisters, Clara Brown and Earlean Curtis and her husband Ira Curtis Sr. His grandchildren, Jonathan Perkins-Jackson, Markiel Perkins, Marliece Perkins (Miller) and her husband David Miller, Lisa Perkins (Jordan), Anthony Perkins, Matthew Perkins, Domonic Perkins, Donovan Perkins, Sandra Perkins (Cushman) and grandchild-in-law Jason Roberts. This along with 22 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and a plethora of nieces and nephews all of whom cherish and carry on his prestigious legacy.
He is preceded in death by: his beloved wife of 49 years, O'Vivian Ann Perkins (Williams). His parents Sandy Perkins, Sr. and Vinnie Perkins (Hall). His siblings Millie Brown, Harry Perkins, Bertha Lee Evans, Henry Perkins, and J.C. Perkins. His daughter in-law Patricia Perkins (Ramsdale). His grandchildren Tricia Perkins-Roberts, LaDon Perkins II, and Curtis Andrew Perkins.
Services to honor and celebrate Sandy's extraordinary life will take place on Friday, May 29th, 2026. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Second Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, located at 12017 Emery Ave, Cleveland, OH 44135. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. The burial will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery, 785 E Washington St, Medina, OH 44256 following the service. Repast dinner is to be held at Second Baptist Church, 451 Bronson St, Medina, OH 44256 following the burial.

His memory will be treasured always as a man dedicated to his work, who always prayed for his family, and pursued vigorously to uphold a legacy of love and faith for generations to come.
