Shannon R.
Barnes
November 4, 1968 – April 4, 2025
Shannon Rollene Barnes, age 56 of Medina, passed away on April 4, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 4, 1968, in Medina to Diane Hastings and Henry Frazier. After Shannon received her degree from Bowling Green State University, she worked many years as a licensed social worker, most recently for the Medina Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing.
She was happiest watching her children on the soccer and football field alongside her husband, Jeff. She had a great love for reading, particularly the Harry Potter series, and named her beloved dog, Griff, after one of its characters. A devoted Christian and member of St. Matthew Church, Shannon exemplified her values through her work helping the elderly and their families.
Shannon is survived by her devoted husband of 29 years, Jeff Barnes; cherished children Norah Bacho (Michael), Sophia Barnes and Ben Barnes; loving mother Diane Hastings; and father Henry Frazier. She is also survived by her Aunt Rollene and cousins Andy and Jeremy VanBoxel; half-siblings Heather Pelz and Jason Frazier; and a lifetime of collected friends and loving extended family. She was proud to soon be a first-time grandmother to Suzanne Shannon Bacho.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law Suzanne and Phillip Barnes and her maternal grandparents Fern and Walter Brady.
The family will receive friends from 3-8:00 pm, Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Waite Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina, OH 44256 and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. The funeral service will be held at 11:30am, Friday, April 11, 2025, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 400 N. Broadway St., Medina 44256.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Shannon's memory to St. Matthew Church at the address above or The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
